Introducing Self-Service Kiosks

Starting in 2019, SIUCU executives began looking into the potential of using self-service kiosk machines as an alternative for members to conduct their daily banking and loan activities. The effects of COVID-19 have underscored the need for such methods to become available now more than ever.

After extensive planning, configuration and testing, these machines are now available at our Carbondale East branch to start, with our other branches to follow suit in early 2022. This new service will be able to conduct most any teller transaction, along with a number of other tasks that previously required members to need assistance from a member service representative.

There will be a concierge available in our lobbies to help our members navigate their first interactions with the simple-to-use machines, which will help ease these into everyone’s credit union visit routines.

Mike Lantrip, President/CEO of SIUCU, shared, “Having these machines available for basic tasks will allow our staff to help with the more intricate needs of members.” He added, “These kiosks will allow us the flexibility to be able to take care of the majority of our member’s needs quickly, safely & efficiently.”

With this new service, members will be able to do such things as:

  • Check Balances
  • Deposit Cash or Checks
  • Make Loan Payments
  • Withdraw Cash
  • Transfer Money and more

Members will also be able to complete options that had traditionally required a teller for assistance, including:

  • Courtesy Pay Options
  • Statement Delivery
  • Skipping Loan Payments
  • Ordering a New Debit Card or New Checks
  • Stopping a Payment
  • Printing a Cashier’s Check or Money Order
  • & many more features

Members will need to have their debit card or a valid state identification on hand to log into the new machines, and there is a helpful “how-to” video available on www.siucu.org to reference whenever someone is in need as well.

We understand everyone has a busy lifestyle, and these new kiosks will be a welcome alternative to waiting in a line at one of our drive-thrus or at a teller line. We’re sure members will enjoy and embrace this new convenience.

As this new technology takes hold, we look forward to placing similar machines outside of our branches. A next step is to incorporate these into our under-served areas and communities throughout southern Illinois to provide our membership even more access to their SIUCU products and services.
