What is a credit union?

Not sure what a credit union is or why you should join?

Here are a few things that make us different.

Member-Owned

• Credit Unions are owned by the membership, not by a paid board

• Our Board is volunteers that are voted in by members

• One vote per member

Not-For-Profit

Profits go back to the members in the form of:

• Lower loan rates
• Higher savings rates
• More benefits

Community

SIU Credit Union is a member of the southern Illinois community and we love to give back!

We sponsor a financial education program as well as wear jeans on Blue Jean Days to fund local charities. Follow us on Facebook to see updates.

Cooperative

When you are a member of a cooperative, you are a part of a mutual cycle of financial assistance. All members work together to create a common goal of financial wellness.

To put it simply, another member’s savings may turn into your loan!
