Carbondale, IL – April 30, 2021 – SIU Credit Union is proud to announce the awarding of five scholarships to deserving students pursuing higher education degrees. The scholarship presentations were made at our branches in Carbondale and Metropolis. Each student received a $1,000 scholarship for the 2021-22 school year. The 2021 scholarship winners, along with their institutions and fields of study, are noted below.
Kennedy Burgess
Kennedy Burgess of Metropolis will graduation from Massac County High School in 2021 and plans to study Nursing at Murray State University.
Michael DeJarnett
Michael DeJarnett graduates from Johnston City High School in 2021 and plans to attend Southeastern Illinois College where he will pursue a degree in Diesel Technology.
Taylor King
Taylor King is a 2021 graduate of Marion High School. She plans to attend Southern Illinois University – Carbondale and study Nursing.
Lexie Lingle
Lexie Lingle of Anna graduates from Anna-Jonesboro High School this year. She will be attending Southern Illinois University – Carbondale where she plans to obtain a degree in Accounting.
Cole Rushing
Cole Rushing is a 2021 graduate of Goreville High School. He plans to attend Southern Illinois University – Carbondale and to study Accounting and Business Administration.

Congratulations on your scholarship award. You don’t remember me, but I worked in the Dean’s office with your Mother, and you use to draw pictures for me (when you and your sister would come in with your Mother) and I kept them hung up on my board.
I know you will do well under the instruction of your parents, as business is right up your Mother’s alley, and you have the suit and look down pretty good!
