Join SIU Credit Union for our Scam Savvy Holiday Edition, a festive and interactive seminar designed to help you spot the “12 Naughty Scams of Christmas” and protect your finances through the holidays and beyond.

Free Shred Days
SIU Credit Union has completed our schedule of Free Shred Days for 2025. Mark your calendars now for the 2026 events below:
• Metropolis - May 7th, 2026
• Harrisburg - June 4th, 2026
• Marion - July 9th, 2026
• Carbondale - Oct. 15th, 2026
Individuals can bring up to 50 pounds of personal documents to be shredded on-site for free.
Each Shred Day event is held from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
We will be implementing the following protocol:
- All people bringing items to shred are asked to stay in their cars.
- Hand sanitizer will be available.
- As we’ve done in recent years, we’ll be accepting non-perishable donations to share with one of our local food pantries.
Examples of items that can be brought for shredding:
- Credit Union / Bank Statements and Old Checks
- Medical & Insurance Forms
- Anything with your Social Security number on it
- Retired Tax Forms (over 3 years old)
- Credit Card Statements
